Machine World overview

Hand-written 2026-10-28. Every statement here carries its source. Where sources disagree, the owner's source of truth wins until the owner says otherwise (open questions).

What it is now (owner's source of truth v4, 2026-10-23)

In seven lines (source of truth §1, status in brackets)

  1. Machine World gives AI agents memory that forgets correctly and a conscience that refuses.
  2. Memory travels with you across models, sees when several models bend it, and realigns by letting go of what no longer holds. (in build; measured at pre-alpha)
  3. Memory knows why each entry exists and lets it go when that reason ends. (built)
  4. One stale fact stops the whole chain built on it, and you are told the cause. (measured, Demo 2)
  5. The motive of a declared act is read first; greed, ill will and self-deception are refused before the act. (built)
  6. After a fact changed, ordinary memory gave 12 wrong answers out of 12; Machine World gave 0. (measured)
  7. Run the open harness on any model; connect it and the memory and the conscience arrive together. (in build)

Underneath: conditioned computation. Every value and act rests on named conditions; nothing runs on a value whose condition has ended. The memory (conditions over facts) and the guard (conditions over motive) are the first two things built this way. Conditioned computation as a general way of programming is stated as vision.

Shape (decided 2026-10-23): open-source harness with an empty pattern slot; memory and guard only inside the hosted service; stages pre-alpha → alpha → beta → gamma; pricing metered on memory space, operations and concurrent agents, not per token. Details: feature status, decisions.

What the public website describes (machineworld.io, pages dated 2026-06-11)

The website presents an earlier, broader shape (see website sources and the URL inventory):

  • Three pillars: Marga Sakacchā (Abhidhamma study in Sinhala), Machine World ("AIware, not software"), Inner Realm (AI-native music), sharing one invariant: no output may give rise to greed, hatred or delusion.
  • A local-first CLI, mw, that runs Processes across digital tools, physical devices and humans: Skill → Workflow → Routine → Loop → Process.
  • A six-field contract for every actor, a four-stage trust gradient, data kept under ~/.machineworld/, bring-your-own-model backends, and a token economy (since superseded, see above).

What the installed CLI shows (WSL, checked 2026-10-27)

A working skills / MCP / workflow CLI, version strings 0.1.0–0.2.9, 48 skills (19 production), 17 MCP entries, no discussion or transcript commands. Your June sessions show it answering through the Claude Code CLI, with slow replies and an unapplied Vinaya check. Full detail: CLI investigation.

How it got here (from the recordings)

The weekly pages trace the path from website and Abhidhamma-app work in 2025, through skills, integrations and fine-tuning in early 2026, to the harness, memory-as-a-service and cessation framing of September–October 2026. Start at the timeline; week coverage is in the index.

Inner Realm (music) and Marga Sakacchā (Dhamma study) appear in many recordings. Recordings that are only about them are excluded from this base and listed with the reason in the source index. External background: the public repo github.com/dinukxx/innerrealm-docs (Inner Realm documentation, last pushed 2025-05-16) is related; no public Machine World engine repository was found (both repository names cited by the site and the CLI return "Not Found" on GitHub, 2026-10-28).
